Satur-deja Vu

I re-published an older post this week about the real life Fred Rogers. Here is my post and here is the trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a biopic film starring Tom Hanks.

In lieu of a possible tariff that would affect the price of Bibles I asked where your Bible was printed. That post got very few views and no responses. It’s not too late if you want to jump in there. Most of mine were printed in the USA but the one I purchased most recently did come from China.

Screenshot 2019-07-24 at 6.11.50 PMIn weird and wacky news this week, Macy’s came under fire for a line of humorous portion control plates. After they pulled them the story broke on social media and they got a lot more backlash for that. AND THEN Forever 21 started packing diet bars with plus size clothing orders. People lost their minds. I suggested they offer to exchange the diet bars for Macy plates but that’s probably not going to happen.

Have you heard Old Town Road whether you want to or not? Are you scratching your head over the new Billboard record being set by Lil Nas X, whoever that is, and has-been country star Billy Ray Cyrus? Whether you like it or not there is no denying that Cyrus always finds a way to keep his career alive. Set the Wayback machine for 1992 and consider what I believe to be the three careers of Billy Ray Cyrus.

…you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”  James 4:14-15

Finally today I have a prayer request. A pastor in our local Baptist association has passed away after a short hospital stay following a heart attack. In this day and age we think of open heart surgery and heart bypass as routine procedures and perhaps even that doctors can just fix you up after a heart attack. Sometimes we are reminded we are not in control. Brent Davis was only a few years older than me. Please pray for his family and for the church family as they mourn. Last Sunday he was at church. Tomorrow they will be discussing funeral arrangements. Don’t mean to bring anybody down it’s just a little surreal right now. Tell your family that you love them. Peace and God bless.
