Prayer Request for Churches in India

Screenshot 2019-11-06 at 8.34.19 AMI’ve written in the past about blog friends; people I’ve not met in real life but as the internet made the world a smaller place we were brought together by the Christian blogosphere. That was a few years ago and blogging is not what it used to be. Today Facebook is more popular but often less substantive but I have good news to report on that front.

Daniel Raj is a Christian church pastor in India. You probably shouldn’t accept every friend request you get on Facebook, especially from people you don’t actually know. But I read his about page, looked at pictures of his family, and read several posts. Most of the them are about the Abundant Life Church services held in a cinder block house the church rents. I was convinced I was not dealing with a spambot nor a scammer living in his parents’ basement somewhere. Daniel frequently requests prayer for his church members as well as other churches and pastors in India. Daniel himself is fluent in English (and I’m not sure how many other languages and dialects) and he does what he can to train pastors and church leaders that are less literate and tech savvy. He teaches Bible classes in tribal areas to train evangelists.

He doesn’t post a lot on Facebook but we communicate frequently, several times per week, through messenger. He always asks how my family is doing, my church is doing, and conveys that his church is praying for us. As much as we emphasize prayer and financial support for missionaries, here is an indigenous church pastor praying for us. He also shares the needs and concerns of Christian churches where he lives. As we begin thinking about live nativity scenes, pageants and concerts, Daniel Raj requests we pray for widows and orphans that will be fed on December 24th. He asked that we pray for upcoming events, namely “That is the Christmas is coming up we believe Christmas season is time of joy and helping needy people from our church and outside people.”

Every now and then he mentions the financial needs but I want to emphasise that he asks for prayer 10 times as often as anything is said about money. Will you join me in praying for Daniel Raj, his family, his ministry, and for Christian churches in India? If you want to contribute financially send me an email and we can discuss it but that’s not the purpose of this post. The need is great and the laborers are few, and through the modern technology of the information age I have made a pastor friend on the other side of the world. We share prayer requests and praise reports, and stories/pictures of baptisms and other special services. We think that’s pretty awesome. When I told him I was planning to write this post he asked that I please hurry for the sake of the ministry. That demonstrates the heart of a pastor, which is pretty awesome anywhere you find it.

Pray that the Gospel is shared across the street and around the world. As Daniel recently wrote: Praying for them, blessings, healings, motivating, encouraging, to accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.
