Happy Mother’s Day. Easter was different this year and Mother’s Day is about to be as well. This is the card I will be delivering to our mothers at Unity Baptist along with a gift. We will not meet in person for worship for another few weeks, at least. The picture was taken last Sunday of the flowers around the church sign on the front lawn. They return every spring whether we are there to see them or not.
Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane… no it’s the Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy Blue Angels, flying over Atlanta last Saturday. This picture was taken by a local resident spectator at the Big Chicken in Marietta. The Big Chicken is an Atlanta landmark. I recommend a Google search if you’re unfamiliar. The Thunderbirds and Blue Angels have been making appearances together as a show of support and morale booster. Normally something you would have to attend an event to see or buy tickets for at an air show, they have been seen over several major cities recently.
Cinco de Mayo fell on Taco Tuesday and it will be another six years before we can try again to get it right. Our family ended up getting chips and salsa and ordering tacos and quesadillas at Chili’s after waiting in the car for a text that our table was ready. We had a disposable menu, pre-wrapped silverware and they were only seating at every other table. But it was our first sit down in a restaurant meal in about six weeks and that ain’t nothing!
The National Day of Prayer was Thursday, May 7th. Social distancing prevents us from coming together but God is near to those who seek him. If we are able to meet together next year for prayer breakfasts and group prayer circles, we will hopefully understand better than ever what a privilege that is. From now until then pray each day that God’s will would ever be done.
It’s been one year since this happened:
And now for something completely different.
So this is how it ends. There will not be a robot apocalypse like in the Terminator movies. Humanity would rise up and fight back. No, they’ll just feed us hamburgers and fried food until we eat ourselves to death. That robot’s name is Flippy. That’s adorable and much less intimidating than T-1000 but it will kill you nevertheless. You’ll just die more slowly and enjoy it. Well played robot overlords, well played.
Don’t forget to send Van Til your spring pics. The results have been underwhelming so the spring pictorial might not be a thing on Monday. You can email Van Til at vantilspecer@outlook.com or use Messenger on The Master’s Table Facebook page.
